HB 921:
Act 600 Retirement Changes:
would amend Act 600 to raise
the pension to 60% of the last 24 months of employment, raise the
service increment maximum to $600.00 and cap the total pension at a
maximum 80% of salary for computing retirement benefits. Assigned
to House Finance Committee March 14, 2005
HB 1057: Off Duty and Retired Right to Carry ID and Qualification:
On July 22, 2004, United States President George W. Bush signed
“The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act” into law, which has
become Federal Public Law 108-277. To enable Pennsylvania
Police Officers to comply with the required annual qualification and
identification cards, this legislation provides a statewide
systematic standard of identification cards for purposes of
complying with the Federal Law. Received 1st Consideration in
the House and was Re-committed to Rules PASSED HOUSE Jul 1st,
2005 Sent to Senate Judiciary July1st, 2005.
SB 394 & HB 1048: Act 600 Service Increments:
This legislation concerns pension service increments and is a
“may” Bill because Municipalities will not immediately have to
institute the service increments, but this will allow Police
Officers to negotiate for the benefit. The service increments
are only applicable after working beyond 25 years. Police
Officers in Third Class Cities already enjoy this same provision of
a maximum service increment cap of $500.00. This would bring
Officers in Townships and Boroughs in line with the same pension
service increment cap provision of $500.
SB 394 was assigned to the Senate Finance Committee March 14th
2005.
HB 1048 was reported to Re-refer to the House Local Government
Committee, first consideration June 29th, 2005, re-committed to
Rules Committee June 29th, 2005.
